Before: Frigidaire Gas Range Clicking and Burner Not Igniting
We received a service call in Atlanta, GA for a Frigidaire FCFG3062ASA free-standing gas range. The customer reported that the cooktop kept clicking and one of the burners would not ignite properly.
This is a common issue we see with gas ranges after the cooktop has been cleaned, especially when water or cleaning solution gets around the burner igniters.
What Caused the Clicking?
In this case, the range had been cleaned recently, and moisture likely got into the burner igniter area. When gas burner igniters or ignition switches get wet, the range may continue clicking even after the knob is turned off.
A wet igniter can also cause a burner to spark but not ignite correctly. Once the igniter area dries completely, the clicking may stop and the burner may start working normally again.
After: Burner Working Normally Again
After checking the burner area and allowing the igniter to dry, the Frigidaire gas range stopped clicking and the burner operated normally again.
This was a good example of a simple issue that may not require major parts replacement if caught early.
Technician Tip: What to Check Before Calling for Repair
Before scheduling service, check this first:
- Remove the burner cap and make sure it is seated correctly.
- Look for moisture around the burner igniter.
- Allow the burner area to dry completely.
- Avoid pouring water directly onto gas burners.
- Do not spray heavy cleaner around the burner switches or knobs.
Important: If you smell gas, hear continuous sparking that will not stop, or feel unsafe, turn the unit off and contact a professional technician.
