The most common problem with refrigerator icemaker is that it does not make ice but there are many other problems including an ice maker that won’t stop making ice, leaks or freezes up.
If your ice maker is not making ice:
Make sure the little arm(shut off arm)above the ice tray is in the down position because when it’s up, it shuts off the ice maker. Not all icemakers have this little arm but if icemaker has one always check it
Check the water supply line behind the refrigerator. Be sure it isn’t kinked and water supply line is on and you have water in the house.
Check the icemaker fill tubethat fills the ice tray isn’t frozen or leaking. If it is then you need to defrost the tube with hair dryer.
Look for ice in the ice bucket and make sure the auger motor that turns the ice ejection arm is working.
Check the shut off water valve on the wall that connects the supply tube to the water pipe.
Check the water valve on the refrigerator. It’s behind and connects water line from the water supply valve on the wall.
If the problem isn’t solved, then you’ll need to replace the entire refrigerator icemaker assembly. Depending on the model the cost of new icemaker goes from $240 and up to $395. Call an appliance technician to check if the refrigerator icemaker needs to be replaced or not
